The 5th year of the Charles Evans PCF Pro/Am Tour kicked off in spectacular Indian Wells, CA and signaled the start to another four exciting events around the country. Players met in the VIP center court suite on Friday evening for the traditional meet-and-greet cocktail party, as well as to view the night matches of the BNP Paribas Open.
On Saturday morning, teams gathered at the stadium for the first 2 rounds of the Pro/Am, then headed up to the suite to enjoy lunch and a fantastic afternoon watching the 2 Men’s Semi-final matches. Nadal, Del Potro, Djokovic and Murray entertained and thrilled the sold out stadium with amazing tennis in unbelievably hot conditions. Following the afternoon matches, players re-grouped for the evening at the truly incredible Big Horn home of famed Hollywood producer, Jerry Weintraub. Jerry, in true form, entertained and humored guests with hilarious stories of his amazing Hollywood life.
Another extremely warm day greeted everyone on Sunday morning for the final 2 rounds of the Pro/Am. In the first final, Ralph Finerman and long-time partner Chris Haggard, went up against Kern Schumacher and top Mexican touring pro, Santiago Gonzalez. Ralph and Chris finally defeated their opponents in a classic match, defending a match point and winning in a tie break. The second final featured defending Hampton’s champion, Arik Kislin, and partner Mark Knowles against last year's finalist, Ralph Eads, and Graydon Oliver. In yet another great match, Arik and Mark held off a late charge by Ralph and Graydon to win the title.
Congratulations to the winners and finalists! Both matches featured exceptionally entertaining tennis for all of the spectators.
The 2013 leader board shows Arik Kislin and Ralph Finerman leading followed closely by Ralph Eads and Kern Schumacher. The tour points determined from the results of this event can be viewed on the leader board.
On behalf of The Prostate Cancer Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Charles Evans Foundation, Dick Merkin, the PCF Pro/Am players and donors, as well as all of our sponsors: Movado, Babolat, Herschel Bonchek and Thorlo.
